OUTER BANKS DETACHMENT MEMBER SERVICES

The Marine Corps League Outer Banks Detachment has made a number of services available to our members.  We encourage our members to submit ideas for new and innovative services to add to this list.  Remember, our effectiveness as an organization is in our ability to draw on our individual strengths and talents, and to work together (Gung-Ho) as a team.  A list of the services currently provided is listed below.

E-Mail Accounts.  All Outer Banks Detachment members are entitled to an oxbmarines.com e-mail address, free of charge.  Your personal obxmarines.com e-mail address will consist of a username that you select, followed by "@obxmarines.com."   For details on requesting your obxmarines.com e-mail account and configuring your computers e-mail application, consult:  Request a Personal obxmarines.com E-Mail Address

Notary Services.   Members of the Outer Banks Detachment may receive notary services free of charge, courtesy of our Web-Sergeant, Robert Yanacek.  Members requiring the services of a notary public may request them by contacting Robert at webmaster@obxmarines.com or via telephone at (252) 305-5026.

Carpool to Meetings and Transportation.  Looking for a ride to our Detachment meetings?  Perhaps a ride to some other location?  Our organization is about Marines helping Marines, and there are a number of members ready, willing, and able to assist.  If you are in need of transportation, or are willing to offer a ride to a fellow Marine, contact a member of the Detachment Staff, or the Web-Sergeant at webmaster@obxmarines.com.

Local Weather.  The Outer Banks Detachment has partnered with AccuWeather to provide our members and visitors with up-to-date local weather conditions, forecasts, weather radar and more.   Current local conditions and the forecast for the next three days is available 24/7 at the bottom of our "Home"  page.  For extended forecasts, local satellite and radar, and additional local weather information, simply click on the links on the  AccuWeather local weather image.

Local Map.  The Outer Banks Detachment has also partnered with Google Maps to provide our members and visitors with a fully interactive local map resource.  Our map, located at the bottom of our "Home" page, is set to the coordinates of the location of our detachment's meeting location in Kill Devil Hills, the Thomas A. Baum Center.  Use the advanced features of this map to:

Zoom In/Out.  The map will allow you to zoom in (+) or out (-) by simply depressing the indicated symbols on the left side of the map.

Change Map to Satellite/Hybrid View.  You may also change map to display a satellite image or a hybrid image (satellite image with location and road names displayed) by simply selecting the appropriately marked button on the top right of the map.

Move Location.  As previously indicated, the map is set to the coordinates of the Thomas A. Baum Center.  To move the map to view a different location, simply depress the arrow buttons at the top left side of the map to move North, South, East or West.

Close/Open Orientation Window.  The map provides a small window on the bottom right to orient visitors to our general location.  You may close this window by clicking the small arrow image at the bottom right corner.  To re-open the window, simple depress the arrow again.

View Full-Size/Printer-Friendly Map.  Should you desire to view a large version of this map, simply click on the "Google" logo located on the bottom lefty hand corner of the map.  A larger interactive and printer-friendly map of our location will open.
