DONATION IN MEMORY OF ROBERT VAN ZEE. A cash donation was recently received from Joan Van Zee with the following note to our members:

Doug,

Thank you so much for the invitation to the Marine Birthday brunch.  It is so thoughtful of you and Elizabeth.  I am looking forward to it.

Enclosed is a check in memory of Bob.  He was so happy to join the Detachment.  It was a real Marine effort on his part to be there.

DETACHMENT RECEIVES NATIONAL HONORS. The Marine Corps League Outer Banks Detachment was awarded the National Junior Vice Commandant's Citation on 10 August 2007.  The certificate was presented to the membership at the general membership meeting on 9 October 2007.  In addition to the certificate, a streamer has also been received and will be added to our Organizational Color.  View Certificate

DRIVERS NEEDED  TO ASSIST MEMBER.  We are in need of additional drivers willing to assist Detachment member Kelly Chamberlain with his twice-monthly appointments at the Veterans Administration hospital in Hampton Roads.  Although Kelly can drive, long-distance driving proves impossible for him.  Kelly will provide the vehicle, some good company, and lunch following his appointment. A number of Detachment members have agreed to assist their brother Marine with these appointments, however, due to the frequency of appointments, additional drivers are needed.  Those interested and able to assist may contact Kelly at 261-8560 or one of the Detachment officers by phone or e-mail.
